A Sub Among Planes

Wings and Wheels 2012 was a stellar success for the New Jersey Naval Museum. The Expo was a chance for car and plane lovers to come together and share in thier love of cutting edge and historic technology, sharing ideas, memories, and their passion for all things technological. Past, present and future combined as guests include the Tuskegee Airmen, WWII fighter pilots, current aviators and future ideas were all accessible and on display for all to see.

And, to top it all off, there was a submarine. Technically, there was no reason for the USS Ling to be represented there. We never soared through the sky and we do not rest on wheels. We are a submarine and a historic one from WWII. But we came, we had our table, we shook hands, and handed out free post cards and fliers to men, women and children of all ages. Aerospace technology does include submarines in the minds of many because of the cutting edge, the distances it too can travel. At heart, they are kindred spirits in a way. We were happy to be there, happy to me all those people, happy and proud to promote out boat, USS Ling, SS-297, submarine!
